Practical Ways to Pray, Care, and Share During the COVID-19 Crisis

Posted In Youth Resources

As schools close or move online, students, staff, teachers, and administration are left in limbo. Youth Alive has put together a list of practical ways we can come around this community during these tough times.

Psalm 91:2 (NIV)

I will say of the Lord,

“He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Pray

·      Pray for COVID-19 to subside so school life and in-school education may resume.

·      Pray for everyone’s health and recovery for those infected with COVID-19.

·      Pray for those impacted financially by this incident.

·      Pray against hopelessness, loneliness, and despair.

·      Pray for Christian students and adults to be “salt and light” in this season.

·      Pray for peace and encouragement in the midst of this storm.

·      Pray for the effects of this incident on families.

·      Pray for Students

o   Adapting to going to school online.

o   Isolated from friends and support.

·      Pray for Coaches

o   Isolated from their teams.

o   Loss of the Spring sports season.

·      Pray for Administrators

o   Leading thru rapid change.

o   Wisdom in making decisions, leading effectively, and communicating with others.

·      Pray for Teachers and Staff

o   Leading/teaching in a virtual school environment.

o   Adapting to the ever-changing duties that they face.

Care

·      Connect with school district administration and communicate that the church is praying for and has a desire to assist.  Example: Does the school need volunteers to help with any school functions even though the school is not physically open?  Volunteers to package and/or deliver meals to students that are a part of the school’s food program?

·      Collect specific ways the church can be praying for the school leaders.  Connect weekly by email for an updated list of prayer points.

Share

·      Take a moment to personally pray with and share encouragement with students, coaches, administrators, teachers, and staff.

·      Take the opportunities God provides to have spiritual conversations and intentionally share the gospel with others. To help you do this, check out this new resource - Alive in 5

Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
